It certainly isn't common here in America, men usually tend to desire a younger wife, but to have a good marriage with her, I believe his focus should be on his responsibility to her, to be a good, caring husband. He will certainly benefit from marrying a younger woman-if he picks a quality young woman.
There is no shame whatsoever in that.
